The latest Meridian audio speakers are quite magnificent. That’s the only way to describe the DSP5200.2 and the DSP7200.2.
Each of these “.2″ audio speakers has the company’s proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, but with a few new tweaks. This type of tech is designed to deliver the most accurate and effective path to high-quality sound reproduction. However, it doesn’t just boast smart processing, but amplification to match.
Made to go with everything from a CD player to a smartphone, each speaker is actually a self-contained audio system. That means no amplification equipment is needed. Each model has a high-efficiency composite dome tweeter and three powerful, built-in 75-watt amplifiers with DSP. That combination can produce a maximum output level of 116dB at 1m.

For multiroom use, you can pair either speaker with Meridian’s Media Source 200 ($1,000). This allows you to have wireless control of networked music, including iOS apps and Sooloos zone-controlling desktop software.
Other features include on-board DSP for thermal and dynamic bass protection and Meridian’s Enhanced Bass Alignment (EBA) technology. Each one also has controls for bass, treble tilt, listening axis, volume, time-compensated balance, and absolute phase.
Both speakers have an equally spectacular appearance. While the red finish pictured above is quite striking, you can tweak that if you like. In fact, Meridian’s Select color service makes it possible to choose between over 270 colors and shades.
Meridian is selling the new DSP audio speakers now. The DSP5200.2 is priced at $12,000 per pair, with the DSP7200.2 coming in at $30,000 per pair. These prices are for the standard black and white piano lacquer finishes, with the Select color service available at a 5 percent upcharge. Also know that each model has a matched center speaker available as a separate purchase. The DSP5200HC.2 has an MSRP of $6,000, with the DSP7200HC.2 available for $15,000.
